Classroom blog

I am starting this blog to possibly use for my class this fall.  I am looking for feedback.  What I would like to blog is my weekly email information.  What is coming up as far as homework, some school wide events, and some links the students might need to help them with what ever we are working on at the time.  I started an old blog a really long time ago, and never did anything with it.  Does anyone out there use blogging with their class?  How does it work and do you have any insights to add?

  1. I do not currently use a blog, but it sounds like you have great ideas! (Blogging is like the extended (long) version of Twitter!) One thing I would say you could also blog about is what you are doing in class (activities, projects etc. and maybe include student work or pictures - with parent approval). You could also have students comment on your blog with questions about homework or (positive) comments about projects. Thanks for sharing your blog! - Whitney

  3. I just started a blog as well. I think if you post important information that your parents will want to read about that will be helpful. I think parents will also want to see pictures of what their students are doing. On my blog I posted about my favorite read aloud and our schedule for the year so parents know when we are doing things.

  4. The schedule for the year will be a great idea for the parents!!! I love that. I can't do that yet, because we make new schedules every year. Our specials change and our lunch and recess times change. So, I can add that in August!! Thanks!!

  5. I created a blog but it is more on a stance of being a special education teacher. I wrote about what I've learned as a special education teacher so parents can get a view of what I do on a daily basis. Throughout the school year, I would like to add my schedule, school events and reminders, class photos that we're doing, and ideas that parents can do with students at home. Since I teach special education, I don't generally give them homework but if you do homework, you could also add this to the blog as well.
